I tried 5th edition and really liked it. Dnd 5th has the best gaming system for gradually increasing complexity and making a good experience I've ever seen. Web4e and 5e are totally different, there's almost zero compatibility in terms of rules. I mean this with no sarcasm or disrespect. It would be like trying to play chess but you have the rules for backgammon. Some of the philosophy and general concepts are the same but they are in no way compatible.
